Identifying Local Opportunities  Hospitality businesses face struggles trying to get employees back to work -  https://www.live5news.com/2020/05/27/hospitality-businesses-face-struggles-trying-get-employees-back-work/ With restaurants and hotels starting to reopen in the Charleston area, business owners have begun hiring back workers but are experiencing a more difficult time than expected. Some employees are choosing not to go back to work because they feel unsafe while others are making more money off unemployment than they would if they began working again, therefore choosing not to go back. The rest don't return because they simply cannot due to things like lack of childcare available.    The problem is that within the hospitality industry there seems to be a lack of incentive for the employees to return to work and a lack of resources to help employees return to work.   The owners of these hospitality businesses are dealing with the problem of no...
Forming an Opportunity Belief 1. Beginning Point:  I believe that there is an opportunity to increase the amount of parking that is available where I currently live, in the city of Charleston. 2. Description of my Belief:   Due to the downtown area of Charleston being so small, street parking is extremely limited. There are very few parking garages which all fill up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. Since becoming more and more popular over the last decade tourists, shoppers and King Street employees often struggle to find parking near the downtown area. This can be especially frustrating for people that drive long distances to visit the city as well as people who work downtown. The solution to alleviate this issue is to build a parking garage just outside of the downtown area (where there is space to build) which offers shuttle services to downtown Charleston.  3-5.  Customer identification and interviews: Customer #1 - A Starbucks ...
My Entrepreneurship Story When I was growing up my grandparents owned their own Doughnut shop in Arizona and as a nine-year-old kid there was nothing better than getting to visit them and run around that shop and eat doughnuts all while getting to see how the whole operation was run. At the time I mostly just appreciated the free sugar, but as I got older I really got to understand how much work goes into running your own business. My grandpa took on the title of baker, cashier, janitor, and manager stepping in wherever help was needed and worked all hours of the day to keep the business running successfully. They also taught me the importance of great customer service and having good relationships with everyone that you do business with. I enrolled in ENT3003 as a business elective because I had heard great things about the class and because I am genuinely interested in learning more about entrepreneurship. What I hope to gain from this class are important life and business s...
Bug List The drive-thru line of Starbucks on 13th being backed up into the street almost every day. There is only one Starbucks open during the quarantine so everyone has to go to the same one causing the line to back up much further than usual. Also, people not willing to try out other local coffee shops. When people sit in the fast lane on the highway that are not trying to pass any other cars and cause traffic. I assume a lot of drivers aren't aware of what the far left lane on the highway is supposed to be used for. When I go to peel a hard-boiled egg in the morning and the shell takes half of the egg with it. I am using the wrong kind of eggs and cooking method for boiled eggs. When my Spotify music cuts off in the middle of my workout. My sister is logged into my account and I am only able to play music on one device at a time. When I take a sip of coffee or tea and it burns my tongue.  The beverage is too hot and was not checked before I drank it. Th...
