23A - Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

1) Attention to detail - Having and valuing close attention to detail, as the owner of this app, will allow me to direct the company in a way that leads us to success. I believe that paying attention to the little things is important in running a company and launching a successful app. I believe most companies choose to only focus on the obvious, large issues and forget to address the "little things" that could make your company sink or swim. This can be hard for other companies to imitate if they don't have the time or resources.
2) Experience in/importance placed on customer service - After working in customer service for 5 years, I understand the importance of taking care of and listening to your customer's needs. It can take a lot of time and resources to invest in a high quality customer service department that works cohesively with other departments in the company. This makes it both rare and inimitable.
3) Valuing quality over quantity with our product - I think most companies, especially product-based companies, can become so worried about the quantity of goods they produce that they neglect to increase the quality of their products. Again, the resources it takes to focus on product quality can deflect companies from wanting to focus on this.
4) Laid back company culture that values the quality of work over the amount of time worked -  Having a laid back company culture that is less stressful than some other work environments will encourage employee retention and increase overall happiness and quality of work.
5) Educational Experience - My degree in business administration will definitely play a part in allowing me to run a successful company. Not all companies have a leader or employees that have the experience of a student from UF's business school.
6) Employees that are forward thinking and offer new ideas - Hiring the right people will set us apart from the rest. Valuing people who are forward-thinking and offer new ideas will help us to get ahead, especially in the app industry.
7) Experience with the issue solved by the app - I think that the issue of waiting in lines for restaurants, drive-thru's etc. is something we have all experienced enough to make us want to work hard and solve that issue. Being passionate about the issue at hand will help us to stand out as a start-up company.
8) Use of Customer feedback - Actually analyzing customer feedback and using it to improve our level of service or quality of our app will make sure that the company is ahead of the game. Satisfying our customers/users will be a top priority and we will seriously consider customer requests and suggestions.
9) Interest in bringing convenience to people's busy, everyday lives - Creating something that will add time to people's lives and create actual value for them will set us apart from other apps, which mostly are aimed at wasting your time (games, social media, etc.) which will help us stand out and stay relevant.
10) Use of innovative technology - By recruiting the highest quality app creators we will launch an app/company that rivals top apps in the apple store today. This will allow us to enter the market already with a high quality product.

Top Resource: Attention to customer service/feedback - I believe this to be the most important for our app, especially being new to the market. Taking feedback from customers and using that to please the people who will make or break your business is crucial.

  1. Hi Kristen!
I enjoyed reading this post. One of the resources you mentioned that caught my eye was #6 about having forward thinking ideas. For this assignment I kept thinking about only myself and failed to mention the people that would be helping me. Thank you for pointing that out to me. Furthermore, I really liked how you made "attention to customers service/feedback" your top resource, I am reminded of the most important part of this whole process: the customer. Great job!
